Jones was 22-of 36 for 195 yards and one touchdown. After his rookie year, Jones hasn’t looked the same as a quarterback in the second season.
Jones has experienced significant changes. Josh McDaniels was the coordinator and he has been named head coach. Las Vegas Raiders Bill Belichick appointed Joe Judge and Patricia Judge, former NFL head coaches, as his top replacements after the 2021 season. Their primary NFL backgrounds were in special teams and defense respectively.
Belichick was also responsible for streamlining the offense. Players stated that their goal was to make it simpler and to allow them to play more quickly.
The Patriots (6-6) are now near the bottom in many key areas. Red zone (31st), conversion (25th), and first downs per game (27th) are just a few of the factors that have seen them fall to the bottom of league rankings. These areas were again problematic against the Bills on Thursday night, when they held a 38:08 to 21.52 time-of-possession advantage.
Jones pointed the finger at Jones.
