Phil Davies: Former Cardiff and Scarlets coach named World Rugby director for rugby

Phil Davies has played in and coached more than 20 countries over the last 35 years

Phil Davies, a former forward from Wales, has been named World’s Rugby’s director of rugby.

His 25-year coaching experience includes stints with Worcester, Scarlets, and Cardiff.

Davies was also instrumental in guiding Namibia to two men’s Rugby World Cups, 2015 and 2019.

His new role will allow him to support the growth and development on the field of rugby, as well as ensure that welfare remains at the core of World Rugby’s legal review process.

Davies stated, “I am humbled and delighted to be joining the World Rugby Team and I am looking forward to getting to work.”
