Philadelphia Eagles sign Olympic hurdler Devon Allen, former Oregon Ducks WR, to a 3-year contract

PHILADELPHIA – EaglesSigned Olympian hurdler and former Oregon DucksFriday’s signing of a three-year contract by receiver Devon Allen

Allen, 27, hasn’t played football since 2016, when he was with Ducks. He decided to focus on track and field, and he has been very successful in this pursuit. In the Olympics’ 110-meter hurdles, he was fourth and fifth.

Allen at Oregon’s pro-day earlier this month caught the attention of scouts when he ran a 4.35 second 40-yard dash. This led to Allen’s visit with the Eagles, and eventually to a three-year contract.

He sustained two knee injuries while playing at Oregon and played in nine games during his final two seasons. His best year at Oregon was his first. He caught 41 balls for 684 yards and seven touchdowns, while averaging 16.7 yards per grab.

A three-time national champion in the 110-meter hurdles, Allen told reporters at Oregon’s pro day he intends to compete at the USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships in June and the World Athletics Championships in July before turning his attention to football.

According to the Oregonian: “I’m going take football off the table for now.” “I wanted to make it to the pro day to let everyone know that I take this serious. We want to be ready for Worlds. Our goal is win at Worlds. After that, we will go to camp the week after Worlds.
