DMP Sharks won just one of their 29 Premier 15s games.

Rugby Football Union said it was working with DMP Durham Sharks who won one of their top-flight matches in the last 29 years to improve performance.

“DMP has had to face many challenges and these need to be resolved. “All stakeholders want to find a way to make the North East a top-tier club,” reads a joint statement.

The Sharks made an appeal earlier this week for an end the online abuse suffered by their players due to their poor results.

“All players work 100% in every workout, training session, and game.” said a club statement.external-link

“We will show the other side to all those who don’t believe us.

If you don’t believe we are worthy of your support and just want to spout negativity about us like it’s not, please, stop! Because it is important for our mental health.

RFU has identified the north east region as an important region for growing the game. The Sharks, part Darlington Mowden park’s community club Darlington Mowden, say that they are “working tirelessly” to create a sustainable future pathway in the region for men’s and women’s rugby.

The Sharks came in last season’s bottom spot on the Premier 15s table, with just one win and a point difference of minus 989.
