Rangers signal defenseman Ben Harpur to 2-year extension

NEW YORK — The New York Rangers have agreed to phrases with defenseman Ben Harpur on a two-year, $1.57 million contract extension by way of the 2024-25 season.

Common supervisor Chris Drury introduced the deal on Thursday for the 28-year-old who began the season with Hartford (AHL).

Harpur will earn $775,000 subsequent season and $800,000 within the closing 12 months.

Harpur has skated in 18 video games for the Rangers this season with one aim and two assists. Since he made his debut on Dec. 15, the Rangers are 11-4-3 and have allowed the third fewest targets towards per sport (2.33) within the NHL.

The Hamilton, Ontario, native has two targets and 16 assists in 174 profession NHL video games with the Rangers, Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators. He was was initially chosen by the Senators within the fourth spherical of the 2013 draft.
