Gronkowski: “Right now I’m not ready for me to get back on that field.” told TMZ Sports. “I am not ready to commit right now to the game football.”
In his second season with Bucs, the four-time All-Pro caught 55 passes for 802 yards and six touchdowns. This despite missing five games due back spasms.
The eventual Super Bowl champion eliminated Tampa Bay from the playoffs shortly after. Los Angeles RamsGronkowski stated that if Gronkowski had to make a decision, he would. would not return for the 2022-23 season.
Gronkowski, who still insists he isn’t ready to play, seems less determined. Gronkowski told TMZ Sports he made certain he was throwing passes instead of catching them at a charity event.
Gronkowski stated, “I knew that if I started to catch some passes, my head would have turned, like, Oh, crap! I got back on the field!'”
Gronkowski stated that even in your 30s, you cannot just be half-hearted and not work hard enough. The game will catch up to you and throw you out. You have to be 100% committed. I’m not yet ready to do this, so I won’t sign any contract.
Gronkowski had previously retired following the 2018 season. He sat out 2019, but agreed to return to football after accepting a trade from Tampa Bay to team up again with Brady. Gronkowski was not surprised to see the future Hall of Fame quarterback return to football.
Gronkowski admitted that while he knew he would be back, he didn’t seem to think he would come back this year. Gronkowski said, “I believed he would return in a year to spend some time with the family.”
Gronkowski remains undecided about how much time he has, but he expressed his admiration for Brady.
Gronkowski declared, “He is not done man,” “The guy is 44, and he doesn’t look a day more than 23 when he’s throwing the football around.”
