Robert Baloucoune from the Ulster Wing has signed a three year extension to his contract.

The 24-year old made his senior debut in October 2018 for Ulster.

Baloucoune said, “I’ve enjoyed the journey so far” and is excited to join this team.

Baloucoune, an Enniskillen-born winger, quickly established himself in the Ulster Senior squad after a stint with the Ireland Sevens program. He made try-scoring contributions to the win against Racing 92, Leicester, and Munster.

The 24-year-old was granted a development contract during the 2019-20 season. He was then upgraded to a senior deal the next year.

Baloucoune has crossed the whitewash nine more times this season in the United Rugby Championship and European Champions Cup campaigns. Three more were added in Saturday’s Star of the Match performance against Toulouse.

His outstanding performances in Ulster led to him being called up for Ireland. He also made his international debut in July 2021. In which he scored an incredible solo try against the USA.

He has two caps for his country, and was a non-playing player in Andy Farrell’s Six Nations squad.

“Rob is an outstanding talent, it’s incredible that a player such as his has committed their life to our province,” said Dan McFarland Ulster head coach.

He is not only a great defender, but also has a tremendous pace.

“I look forward to seeing what Rob does in the Ulster jersey over these next seasons.”
