Robert Saleh, New York Jets’ coach, says Mekhi BECTON’S season is likely over due to a knee injury

New York Jets Start with the right tackle Mekhi BectonA knee injury that he sustained Monday in practice has made it more likely that he will miss the season, coach Robert Saleh announced Tuesday.

Saleh claimed that he felt “sick for” Becton, who suffered a chip fracture to his right knee. He also spoke out in defense of Becton, pointing out the “shade’ he had received on social media.

“His story is not over. Saleh stated that he has the full support of the organization. “And if your fan is interested in supporting him, that’s more than enough. If not, keep it moving.”

Becton will be referred for a second opinion by a specialist on Wednesday. Although initially optimistic, the Jets changed their mind Monday night when they learned that an MRI had revealed that Becton was in serious condition.

“Everything happens because it is…I know God and my Grandma got us up there, I JUST KNOW IT! TRUST!#IMSTILLHIM #4GK,” Becton posted on Instagram.

Saleh stated that the 2020 first-round draft selection suffered from the same injury as September’s season-ending surgery, but this was a completely different injury.

Jets sign veteran well-traveled player late Monday Caleb Benenoch (23 career start) to a one year contract. They are interested in free agent tackle Duane BrownFive-time Pro Bowl selection, who visited them over the weekend.

Becton has only started 14 of 33 games over the past two seasons. He also missed six games due to injuries. Last season, Becton’s weight was a big story, as he gained about 400 pounds after he had surgery.

Although he was obese at June’s minicamp, it was a frustrating situation for the organization. He trained at the facility and reported that he was in good shape. Saleh had complimented Becton for getting through the first nine practice sessions and working his way back into football shape.
