Exeter has signed Ryan McCauley, an Australian second-rower, and Sam Nixon (ex-Bath tight-head) as their new captains.
A short-term agreement has been reached with the 24-year-old former Australia Under-20 international.
After spending the past four years with the Waratahs in Sydney, he played in Super Rugby 14 times last season for Perth's Western Force.
Nixon was also 24 and spent the last season playing for French Top-Flight Side Bayonne, where he played 23 games.
He was also a member of the Yorkshire Carnegie and Plymouth Albion, England.
McCauley stated, “It will be my first rugby experience over here in this area. But I have seen games of Chiefs Rugby and know that it is a high level over there.” told the Exeter website.
“I look forward to learning from other tight forwards because the players are of high calibre.
“Also I can't wait for my skills around line-out maul, scrum and maul to grow, particularly as they are used more here.”
Exeter has not revealed the duration of Nixon's agreement.
Prop said, “For me it's an amazing dream come true to go back to south west to play for a great team so close to home.”
“I have met Exeter quite a few times over the years. It's always been a challenging test for me.”
They're the ones who have been leading the way in this field for many years. Just by coming to training, it is clear that the standard has reached a whole new level.
