Garoppolo is currently recovering from an offseason injury to his throwing shoulder and has been cleared by Schefter to begin practicing.
The Niners will continue to be cautious with Garoppolo this summer, who had the surgery in March. This delayed San Francisco’s attempts to trade him.
Kyle Shanahan, the Niners’ coach, said in May that Garoppolo was “most probable to be traded”, but later stated that a trade was “not an assurance.”

Garoppolo is 30, and will be entering his final season. He is expected to contribute $26.95m towards the 2022 salary cap. The deal contained a no trade clause that was only in effect for 2021, but the 49ers can still trade Garoppolo to any other team.
A team that acquires Garoppolo would be willing to pay $24.2 million in salary, but this salary is not guaranteed. Interested teams could negotiate with Garoppolo for a contract extension. This will allow them to lower their salary and get guarantees.
