San Jose Sharks D Erik Karlsson available until at least March

SAN JOSE, Calif. San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik KarlssonHe is likely to miss at most two months due to a left forearm injury.

Karlsson was admitted to the Sharks’ hospital Monday for treatment of a minor muscle tear in his left arm. According to the Sharks, Karlsson will likely be reevaluated by mid-March according to Tuesday’s announcement.

Karlsson’s departure is a huge blow for the Sharks. They were tied with Calgary at the beginning of the day for fourth place in the Pacific Division with 43 points. San Jose has played five games more than Edmonton and five more than Calgary. The Sharks have four points more Oilers.

Karlsson was playing some his best hockey since joining Sharks 2018 season. He has eight goals, which are his highest in four seasons in San Jose, and 18 assists.
