Courtney Lawes, England’s forward, has been declared fit for Wales in the Six Nations on Saturday.

Lawes, 32 years old, is unable to participate in the Championship this year due to concussion.

However, he passed training Friday and is now ready to face the Welsh at Twickenham on 26 Feb.

Anthony Seibold, England assistant coach, said that Courtney had been fully trained today.

“He has had a great preparation this week, and a very thorough back-to-train protocol.”

Lawes has 90 caps and has been a key leader in England in recent years. He also stepped in as captain when Owen Farrell was hurt.

A concussion that Farrell suffered in mid-January at Northampton Saints ruled Farrell out of the first two Six Nations matches. Farrell was replaced by Tom Curry, who led the side in Farrell’s absence.

Seibold said, “The autumn series was my first time working with Courtney. He took over from Owen. And he did a tremendous work.”

“He leads by his actions, and I’m very impressed with what both he does on each side of the ball. But defensively, he is a leader for us in many ways.

“So to have them back in the group-training today significantly raises my standard because we now have a highly intelligent defensive play who is full of effort.”

England have major reinforcements to help them in the crucial Wales clash. After being defeated by Scotland, England lost round one.

Apart from Lawes, Centre Manu Tuilagi is back in the squadHe is expected to make his debut after proving his fitness. Joe Launchbury, lock, is also likely to return after being absent since autumn 2020.
