Flanker Taine Basham claims there is “definitely going be an advantage” in the Wales camp prior to the Six Nations home match against Scotland.

Wayne Pivac’s side began the defense of this tournament with an emphatic loss, being beaten by Ireland, 29-7.

Basham was one the few shining stars with a try-scoring display. Basham believes Wales will improve next week.

Basham stated, “It’s all about mindset for us – there will not be any doubt that we will bring it next week.”

Scotland seeks a first victory at Cardiff after conceding 251 points on their last eight Six Nations visits.

Gregor Townsend’s team will travel south on Saturday 12 February, buoyed by a memorable Calcutta Cup victory against England. Basham knows that Wales needs to improve upon the Dublin defeat.

Basham said, “We’ll look back and see that we didn’t show up physically.”

“It must turn up next week especially in front of a home crowd.

“There is going to be an edge next Wednesday. This result will disappoint the boys. [in Dublin]We were able to do it in the first 10 minutes.

“I think that the 20th minute of the first-half, when we started the ball in motion (the second half), you could see that they were breaking down.

“Next week, it will be more of that, getting out the line in defense and just being really physically.”

Basham, 22, has underlined the strength of his reputation with a remarkable performance against Ireland. Basham led his team’s statistics charts in terms tackles (22) as well as metres made (93), tackles (22) or carries (15).

Basham added, “That’s what is expected from me from my team members and myself.”

“I have to chuck my body around for the team so that I can be happy with it.

“Every opportunity you have in this shirt, play your own game and put your stamp on it.”
