According to sources, Maxey received a negative Xray and will undergo an MRI Saturday.
Maxey sustained the injury in the first period with just 1 minute, 36 second remaining. He landed awkwardly on his foot and was fouled in transition. Maxey grimaced as he hopped up to the basket and let out a loud scream. He then limped back towards the foul line and split two free throws.
Maxey was forced to leave the court after the Sixers committed an inadvertent foul. He then walked back to Philadelphia’s locker rooms. At half-time, the Sixers made Maxey go off the court and back to Philadelphia’s locker room.
Maxey finished with 24 points, four boards and five assists in what was probably the best half of Maxey’s career. He shot 9-for-12 from field, including 3-for-4 at 3-point range. Maxey (22 years old) has had an amazing third season in Philadelphia. For the second straight season, Maxey averaged 22.8 points per game and shot over 40% from 3-point range.
