Sources say that Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks’ star player, will miss Game 1 against the Utah Jazz because of calf strain.

DALLAS — Mavericks superstar guard Luka DoncicWill not be able to attend Saturday’s 1st Game against the Utah JazzESPN reported that his strained left leg and concern over his availability for Monday’s Game 2 are major concerns.

Doncic has not been able to practice since suffering the injury during the third quarter on Sunday of the Mavericks’ regular season finale. He is currently undergoing extensive treatment.

Jason Kidd, the Mavericks coach said that “He’s in great spirits and looks like his game is improving.”

The severity and location of calf strains will impact the recovery time. According to InStreetClothes.com, the average time that NBA players missed due to calf strains was 16 days.

The Mavs declined to give details about Doncic’s strain, or provide an estimate of his return date.

Doncic, who was a two-time All-NBA selection and averaged 28.4 point, 9.1 rebound, and 8.7 assists per contest this season, played despite suffering injuries from his previous playoff appearances.

In 2020, Doncic was deemed questionable for Game 4 because of a sprained ankle. He was not allowed to play until after the warmups. In the Mavericks’ win over the Mavericks, he had 43 points and 17 rebounds. He also had 11 assists. LA ClippersHe capped it off with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from the back that won the game.

Doncic suffered a cervical strain during Game 3 in the 2021 series, which severely restricted his neck’s motion. After struggling in Dallas’ game 4, Doncic bounced back in Game 5, scoring 42 points, eight rebounds, and fourteen assists.

Doncic’s calf strain could be worsened if he is not fully healed.

Kidd earlier this week stated that “if he’s hurt, he can’t participate, we’re going to not roll him out there in order to jeopardize him or put him into a position to make matters worse.”
