Steve Bisciotti, Baltimore Ravens owner, says Deshaun Watson’s contract with the Cleveland Browns is complicating QB market

PALM BEACH FL. Baltimore RavensTuesday’s acknowledgment by Steve Bisciotti, owner of the property, was that Deshaun WatsonThe record-setting contract of ‘Titan’ could have ripple consequences for future quarterback deals, such as the one for Lamar Jackson.

Watson was awarded a $230 million, five-year fully guaranteed contract by the Department of Justice on March 18. Cleveland BrownsAfter being traded by the Houston Texans. That’s $80million more than the previous NFL record of fully guaranteed money at signing.

The Ravens are currently looking to negotiate a contract extension for Jackson, who is now entering his fifth year option.

“I’m trying that answer when I had a response to it. Bisciotti, speaking Tuesday at the NFL league meetings, said, “Damn! They hadn’t guaranteed that the entire contract.” He should have been the first to receive a fully guaranteed contract, but I don’t know why. It’s a new concept to me and will make it more difficult for others to negotiate.

Bisciotti added that it didn’t necessarily mean we had to play that particular game. We will see. We will see.

Eric DeCosta, the Ravens’ general manager, previously stated that they had reached out to Jackson in order to begin contract negotiations. Jackson has not expressed any urgency to sign a contract.

The Ravens will place a franchise tag on him if the sides are unable to reach a new contract before next offseason. This would prevent him from becoming a free agent.

Bisciotti described Jackson’s decision not to wait as “unique” because everyone expects you say, “I’ve got my own now.”

Bisciotti stated that the kid is so obsessed about winning a Super Bowl that he thinks he’s not worthy. This was his first interview in four years with reporters. “I think he wants it to say, Now, I deserve the top.’ People are free to speculate in any way they like. He doesn’t seem to be so obsessed with money and knows that it will come one way or another.

Bisciotti doesn’t think Baltimore will sign Jackson to a contract extension before season starts “unless Eric has an epiphany and calls Eric and tells him, ‘I’m ready.’”

Eric cannot keep calling Eric and saying, “Hey Lamar! You really need to get into here and do this.” Bisciotti stated that this is not a GM’s job. “Kirk Cousins did this the right way. What if Lamar said that? I’ll be on the fifth year. I’ll also play on the franchise. Then, you can sign me.

“And that gives you three years to win Super Bowl so that you can make me $60 million quarterback because that’s where it’ll be in four years.” It could be true, but Lamar doesn’t know. This is not my job. I don’t have the answer.”
