Super Bowl LVI, between Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams, expected to be biggest bet ever

According to the American Gaming Association’s survey results, Super Bowl LVI could be the most heavily-bet game with $7.61 billion at stake.

A staggering 31.4 million Americans plan to place bets on Sunday’s underdog-favored game. Morning Consult, data firm, conducted a survey of 2,212 adults for AGA in February. This is the U.S. Casino industry. The AGA’s annual survey has set records for both the bettors and the amount of money projected since 2015.

Bill Miller, President and CEO of the AGA, stated in a release that the survey results had been announced.

There are now legal sports betting markets in thirty states and the District of Columbia. This is a significant improvement on the four-year-old federal statute that restricted regulated sportsbooks only to Nevada.

Since last year’s Super Bowl, ten states have established betting markets. The U.S. legal betting market is expanding and will accept nearly $60 billion worth of wagers in 2021. This will generate more than $4.29 Billion in taxable revenue.

Super Bowl LVI will see commercials for betting sites, as the NFL continues its focus on sports gambling. The league has remained neutral on sports betting for decades because it feared that it could compromise the integrity of the game. The NFL, the NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball fought nearly six years of court battles with New Jersey over the issue of sports betting. New Jersey prevailed when the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated 1992’s Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act.
