Tampa Bay Lightning and Orlando Magic contribute to Hurricane Ian relief efforts

TAMPA (Fla.) — The Tampa Bay Lightning Jeff Vinik, team owner, and $2 million will be donated to Hurricane Ian relief efforts.

Friday’s announcement by the NHL team was that $1 million will be donated each by the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation, and the Vinik Family Foundation.

Vinik stated in a team statement that “This is an awful situation for many families in Florida and in particular the southwest region.” “In times like this, it is important to support one another and we hope this donation can help families rebuild in the coming months.”

Friday also features the Orlando Magic Richard DeVos, Richard’s owner, announced that the DeVos Family Foundation would donate $1 million for relief efforts.

Tuesday’s hurricane Ian struck Florida’s Gulf Coast south of Tampa Bay. The Lightning postponed their two home preseason matches and moved the club’s training camp to Nashville (Tennessee) during the storm.
