Fans could share a Mega Millions jackpot worth $1.28 billion plus with the New York Islanders

The New York Islanders They didn’t win this season’s NHL draft lottery, so they have turned their attention to Friday’s $1.28 Billion Mega Millions drawing.

Their fans could also win if they win the lottery.

Jackpocket is a third-party platform that allows users to place state lottery tickets. The Islanders announced their partnership with Jackpocket to purchase Mega Millions tickets worth $50,000. If one of the 25,000 tickets wins the big prize, or the winnings exceed $250,000, then the net winnings will go to the Islanders Children’s Foundation charity and holders of full season tickets or suites.

The Islanders will donate all winnings below $250,000 if the Islanders are unable to pay the entire amount.

MegaMillions.com estimates that 1 in 303 million people have a chance of winning the Jackpot.

Jon Ledecky, co-owner of the Islanders, said in a statement that “As we prepare to our historic 50th Anniversary season,” and added that it was a way to show our appreciation to our Islanders Season Tickets Members and staff as well as give them a chance at participating in the Mega Millions drawing. Ledecky’s company purchased the Islanders in 2014, for $485million.

“Revenue from lottery ticket sales is used to fund education in New York State. So, no matter what happens in today’s historic drawing important funds will be generated for education in New York State. This supports our fan base as well as their families.”

This is one way to encourage team unity and fan support.
