Each autographed Colorado Rockies prospect will turn each card into a 1/1 piece of art.

Benny Montgomery It was not easy for him to autograph the thousands upon thousands of cards sent by card companies. He was drafted No. 8th overall by the Colorado Rockies In the 2021 MLB draftHe was required to sign every card that was sent to him and signed endorsement deals with Leaf, Panini, Onyx, Onyx, Panini, Onyx, Leaf.

Montgomery says that signing thousands of cards can become tedious and mind-numbing. He is required to sign cards and return them to the companies within a specified time frame by his contract with each of the four companies.

Montgomery was bored from signing hundreds of cards so he decided to change his name on one card. Montgomery is a big fan of Borat movies so he signed the Borat card and sent his agent a picture.

Montgomery explained, “I realized people don’t do that so I was surprised by it because it seemed like an artistic way to show off your personality.”

He never displayed it to anyone else, and he didn’t believe it would ever be a big thing. However, collectors started showing interest in his signature and he thought he’d share it with them on social media.

Collectors were attracted to him not because he was the No. 8 draft pick, but because he was part of a conspiracy theory.

When some of his cards began to circulate, people noticed two different versions. This led card hobbyists and card enthusiasts into an investigative mode. They speculated that his mom was autographing a fancier version for him.

Montgomery was the victim of rumors and was eventually able to dispel them by showing video that he actually has good handwriting and two signatures.

Montgomery explained that Montgomery believed that Montgomery was signing with my mom. “I recall one guy saying, Well, we need to stop letting prospects mothers sign these cards. They thought that I was fakeing it. They thought I was faking it. [in] In the offseason, I recorded a video of myself signing two cards. One was my regular way, and one was my fancier way. Then, I posted it. I basically replicated each signature, because those were my signatures.

Montgomery was able to capture the attention of fans with his video and started a new adventure.

Surprisingly Montgomery claimed he didn’t tell his mother about the incident. There is a chance she doesn’t use social media and didn’t realize she was involved in card collecting controversy.

Montgomery stated, “She couldn’t care less social media, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she didn’t know.” “She may be touched that someone thought my signature was hers, but I’m not certain.”

After Signaturegate was resolved and everyone knew that it wasn’t his mother signing his cards, Montgomery decided not to stop having fun and engaging card collectors who had been paying attention to the mini-saga.

Montgomery replied, “Everybody thought the signature was funny and I was like ‘Oh, that Borat image, so lets put that in this topic.'” “I told them I was waiting for someone to find it, hoping nothing would happen with that. It just went viral.”

Borat’s signature was on a card number 10 out of 150. This means that there are only 150 copies of this particular card. Although the signature was unique, it made it a one-of-one card. The other 149 cards would have his signature.

Montgomery was struck by the popularity of the variation and decided to keep on going. Montgomery signed one of the Jets’ cards and drew a mustache in his picture.

On another card, he then signed “Sign Here”, where the signature was supposed.

At the request of one his followers, he signed a card that included a Braille version his name.

Montgomery stated that he waited for a while before receiving a Topps shipment. The Benny and the Jets ones were a bit more complicated than the Borat one. “That one received even more views because people started to expect it now.

Montgomery persevered, but was once again in a difficult situation with fellow prospect. Jordan LawlarThe, who is a part of Arizona Diamondbacks Organization, and decided to sign each other’s names on their cards. Benny signed his card as Lawlar, and vice versa.

It is funny but it can cause problems with authenticity and ensure that the autograph is authentic. Topps was intrigued by the idea of signing a player’s nickname. However, signing the name of another player was something that was quite funny.

Montgomery said, “Topps. I know they weren’t thrilled about it.” “They talked to me after we did that and said that I couldn’t do that. It was a conflict, so I am not prohibited from doing it. However, I will be observing this perspective.

However, not all card manufacturers were against it. Onyx sent Montgomery a set and allowed him to do what he liked with the cards. Although he does not know if the Topps cards bearing alternate signatures will make it to their fans, he hopes they do. He hopes he’ll be able to show his creativity and engage with fans, while also being unique with a monotonous, mundane task.

Montgomery stated, “You can turn a card that would normally have 100 to 200 cards and make it a one-of-one.” It gives me a personality, and I think it helps to reach out to my fans. It makes the card more valuable. People were giving bounties to the Borat card so I would like to continue doing it.”
