Tommy Freeman, England winger has signed a contract extension with Northampton Saints. The agreement is “long-term”.

Saints’ free-standing winger Freeman scored 14 tries during last season’s 18 games.

The 21-year old was called up first by England for the 2021 fall internationals. He also won two caps during the summer tour of Australia.

Director of rugby Phil Dowson said that Tommy was a “bona fide freak” of an athlete to the Saints website.

“He is tall, fast, and incredibly skilled. All of these things make him a special player.

“Tommy makes good decisions. He has the ability to see space and beat players, put the ball on his feet at the right moment, throw offloads, and has the confidence and the skill to win for his country or club.

Freeman made his Premiership debut as a teenager in 2019-20. He was also named the club’s young player award last season.

“[Former director of rugby] Chris Boyd provided me with the platform to get into the first team, and I’m excited for what’s to follow with Dows at helm. This is an environment that I wanted to stay in and everyone is working hard for next year,” he stated.

“Competition in Saints’ back three is always strong so I have always tried to concentrate on grabbing my opportunities using both hands. I love the freedom that we as a squad are allowed to express our feelings on the field.”
