France is still in contention for the title of Under-20s Six Nations champion after a well-deserved bonus points win over Wales in Colwyn Bay.

France was in control with Romain Fonnicola (Connor Sa) but Wales came back within two points thanks to a penalty try by Beni Williams and a Beni William score.

France secured a crucial bonus points win against Ireland with Sa’s second attempt and further attempts from Enzo Renier, Simon Tarel, and Max Auriac.

Byron Hayward’s Welsh youth are fourth in Championship with Italy their final opponent a week after.

Fonnicola crossed the line for France’s first try after a well-executed play. After some deliberation, referee Connor Sa decided that Connor Sa had grounded it for the second try.

After France’s collapsing of the maul at their own try line, Wales received a penalty try and Thomas Moukoro was given a yellow card.

France finished the second half with 13 players. Samuel M’foudi was also sent to the sin box. Leo Barre’s penalty, which he added to his earlier conversions, gave the visitors a five point advantage at the break.

Barre continued to show great kicking ability in the second period, before Sa scored his second attempt of the game.

Reybier ran in to score France’s bonus-point try, before Tarel and Auriac made fine late tries that sealed their victory.
