Projected No. Projected No. 1 pick Victor Wembanyama will travel next month to Las Vegas for a pair highly anticipated games that match up with projected No. ESPN sources said that Scoot Henderson will be the 2nd pick.
G League Initiate will be taking on Metropolitans 92, Paris, in a pair in Henderson (Nevada) on Oct. 4 and 6. The source confirmed that the games will be broadcasted by the ESPN family.
The 18-year-old Wembanyama recently measured 7-foot-4 barefoot and had an 8-foot wingspan. His exceptional combination of fluidity. perimeter skill, shot-blocking instincts, and feel for the game has made him the most likely No. Barring a surprise, Wembanyama is the likely No. 1 pick. He was the French LNB Pro A Young Player of the Year two years running and made his Euroleague debut in last season.
He will be competing with Henderson, a 6-3 point guard and electric player who is entering his second Ignite season. Henderson is a typical frame with a 6-foot-9 wingspan and explosiveness. He plays off hesitation moves and finishes downhill drives high above the rim in highlight-reel fashion. He will have the best chance to prove to the large number of NBA executives he is expected to be assembled for these games that Henderson is worthy of consideration at No. 1, over Wembanyama.
Henderson is among three players projected to be first-round picks for G League Ignite. He will be joined by Leonard Miller (Canadian wing) and Sidy Zissoko (French guard), who are the No. According to ESPN’s latest projections, 19 and 23 picks are expected. Mojave from Australia and Efe from Nigeria are both potential draft picks.
Ignite will host a full G League schedule of 50 games for the first-ever time. This allows them to be eligible to compete for a championship in 2022-23. Their season officially begins on November 4th at their new arena, the Dollar Loan Center, Henderson, Nevada.
