Walker Buehler of Los Angeles Dodgers undergoes second Tommy John Surgery, flexor tendon repairs

Los Angeles Dodgers star right-hander Walker Buehler Tuesday saw the completion of a UCL reconstruction also known as Tommy John surgery and tendon repair. according to the teamThis officially ends his season.

Buehler, 28, last pitched on June 10, when he was suffering from elbow pain. Due to unclear imaging on Buehler’s elbow, Dr. Neal ElAttrache arranged surgery for Tuesday. He would then determine if Buehler needs a full reconstruction.

Buehler, “Tommy John Round 2 Let’s Roll,” captioned a photo posted to Instagram. “See ya when I see ya @dodgers.”

Buehler won’t spend more than one year recovering from the second operation. After being drafted by the Dodgers with the 24th pick in the first round, he needed Tommy John surgery.

Since then, he has been an outstanding pitcher in baseball and is a crucial cog on the 2020 World Series champion team. Buehler is a professional pitcher with a 3.02 ERA and 690 strikeouts in 115 regular-season games. He also has 162 walks over 638 1/3 innings.

Buehler got off to a relatively slow start in 2022, allowing eight runs in 6⅓ innings in his first two June outings. His right elbow bone spur was also removed. He was eventually shut down due to a flexor strain. Buehler was expected to recover in 10-12 weeks. However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said last week that Buehler had experienced unusual soreness while playing catch. This led to the MRI that resulted in him being placed on a waiting list.
