Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder offered his testimony via video to the House Oversight Committee in August, letter states

Washington Commanders According to a letter that his attorney sent Thursday to Carol Maloney, Daniel Snyder, the owner of the property, offered to testify by videoconference before Congress in late July. His attorney said that they have not heard back from the committee regarding the dates submitted.

ESPN obtained the letter from Snyder’s attorney Karen Patten Seymour. In it, Seymour stated that Snyder’s conflict on other proposed dates for depositions had been discussed in a June 30 telephone call. The letter stated that the committee offered Snyder an interview remotely on July 6-8, but Seymour said she was open to scheduling one for July 28-29.

The House is currently in session from July 29 through August 29, and will be closed in August.

The committee has been looking into Washington’s workplace culture since October. It didn’t immediately respond when we asked for comment. Snyder is being served by the committee with a subpoena for testimony. However, a spokesperson said last week that Snyder’s lawyer has not accepted it.

Seymour stated that Snyder was planning to travel to Israel in July and August to commemorate the one year anniversary of his mother’s death. Seymour indicated that she would travel from the United States to Snyder’s video testimony. This will take place in private. But, the committee could release all or part.

Seymour wrote in the letter that she previously had work duties in Europe during the earlier dates. Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner, was also present in Europe on June 22 as a witness at an investigation hearing.

The Commanders will start training camp July 27th, with their first preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Carolina Panthers August 13,

Until recent years, Snyder attended the team’s training camp regularly. Due to vacation plans, he didn’t arrive at camp until August 2019. He did not attend camp in 2020 due to the COVID-19 epidemic. After Tanya, the wife of the NFL’s commissioner, imposed a record-setting $10 million fine on the team last year, he did not attend. This was in response to the league’s internal investigation into sexual misconduct and workplace culture within Washington’s team.

Goodell told the NFL league meetings that Snyder would no longer represent the team for the “foreseeable” future and that they would be discussing his return “at one point.” A league source says that this discussion has not occurred yet. Snyder went to France in June for an awards ceremony. He was also invited by the committee as a witness with Roger Goodell, the NFL Commissioner. The committee’s Maloney stated that she would subpoena Snyder to take a deposition during Goodell’s testimony in June 22.

Maloney stated that Snyder chose to “skip town” rather than face responsibility. She also noted that Snyder’s yacht was in France at the time. According to vesselfinder.com website, Snyder’s 305-foot yacht Lady S was located off Corsica’s eastern coast in the Mediterranean Sea on Thursday morning.
