Washington Commanders QB Carson Wentz looks back at his time with the Philadelphia Eagles

ASHBURN, Va. — Quarterback Carson Wentz In just five seasons, he went from being a savior to being benched to being traded with the Philadelphia Eagles. Sunday is the Washington Commanders Wentz will not only be the Eagles’ host, but also the enemy.

While Wentz attempted to minimize the fact that he was facing his former team on Sunday, he also acknowledged that his time in Philadelphia was not steady. He was a controversial figure in Philadelphia.

Wentz stated that it was a “wild ride” during his time with Eagles.

Philadelphia drafted Wentz with the 2nd pick in 2016. They had previously traded up twice from 13th to get him. Wentz was considered a MVP candidate until he tore both his left ACL & LCL in Week 14. He was still sidelined for less than two months when the Eagles won a Super Bowl.

After signing a four year extension to his contract, Wentz threw for 4,039 yards and 27 touchdowns. He also had seven interceptions.

The Eagles were then drafted Jalen Hurts The 2020 draft saw the second round. Although Wentz was still considered a top-notch quarterback, he struggled that season. After 12 games, he was traded to Hurts and benched.

Wentz stated, “My career has been a blur.”

To be honest, it was a bit overwhelming. This whirlwind led to him being traded to Washington in another trade. Wentz is now exactly what the Commanders (1-1) hoped for, having thrown seven touchdown passes and two interceptions.

It was difficult to imagine him playing elsewhere until his last season at Philadelphia. It was life’s way to throw him curveballs, he said. Wentz stated that he relied upon his faith to keep moving forward.

He said, “It can catch you off guard. Things change and you must learn to grow up to change and adapt.” Your perspective changes on life, your job, everything. There are many things that I regret and could have done differently here as a person and as teammate. Even though they weren’t always what I expected, I am thankful for the learning experience that I had.

New teammates of Wentz claim that they haven’t noticed anything else about him this week.

Washington receiver Terry McLaurin said. “But he’s still a competitor, and you know that he wants all the wins; it’s going have some meaning. This is where we step in as playmakers, so he doesn’t feel that he must win the game.

Wentz, after Sunday’s loss against Detroit, said that facing the Eagles was “another game.” He said that he is trying to keep the game from becoming “bigger than it should be”. Perhaps there will be a different emotion when the Commanders take on Philadelphia on Nov. 14.

After he was traded, the Eagles also changed their coaches. Although the front office remains relatively unchanged, many of the players on the field have been traded.

Wentz threw 33 touchdown passes during 2017, despite only playing in 13 games. Only Seattle has a better record. Russell Wilson He threw 34 more times that season. Wentz helped the Eagles to have home field advantage in the playoffs which allowed them to reach the Super Bowl. Wentz stated that even though his time was not easy, it wasn’t a bad ending.

He stated, “There are lots of real good memories that I have from my time there,” not gonna lie. I will have mixed emotions because I had a lot great friends and made a lot great relationships. It was a wonderful couple of years. It was a wonderful time.
