The Nationals’ new design is dominated by cherry blossoms. This is the first of seven City Connect uniforms set to be unveiled for the 2022 season. The jersey features pink and ivory details, as well as flowers. Washington, D.C.,’s famous cherry blossom trees flower in the spring. The city flag and typeface that evokes the city’s architecture are just a few other details.
Additional details include flower outlines in dark gray or anthracite backgrounds and cream pants which contrast well with the gray jerseys.
The cherry blossom theme will continue to the basketball court, with the Washington Wizards sporting a similar City Edition Uniform Set. It is the first Nike uniforms linking multiple teams in a city with a specific theme. The uniforms will be worn Tuesday by the Wizards against the Chicago Bulls during Cherry Blossom Night at Capital One Arena. The cherry blossom uniforms will be worn during select games by the Nationals throughout the 2022 season. Their on-field debuts are on April 9 and 10 against the Philadelphia Phillies. Major League Baseball hopes for continued success from City Connect during the 2021 season.
