Edinburgh defeated Zebre by 38-19 bonus points to win on the road.

Adam McBurney was a guest in Parma and scored two tries for Mike Blair’s side. Jamie Hodgson, Wes Goosen, Henry Immelman, Matt Currie, and Jamie Hodgson also got over.

Bottom side Zebre lost MJ Palser to a second-half red card, but crossed three more times in the second period through Alessandro Fusco (Luca Rizzoli) and Jacop Trulla.

McBurney pulled off a pick-and-run ruck, and was able to keep up with the retreating hosts on the first try. Emiliano Boffelli converted.

Zebre failed to repel Blair’s forces and Hodgson applied the required downward pressure just above the line after a lineout. Boffelli failed to succeed this time.

Edinburgh were in command. Luke Crosbie, Matt Currie and Matt Currie combined to push Goosen clear to the left for an easy touch-down. Boffelli converted.

The bonus point was now tantalisingly close to the Scottish side. Zebre suffered further when Pelser was given a red card after bursting into a ruck in an attempt to knock Nick Haining.

McBurney landed a rolling maul for Edinburgh’s fourth try, and Boffelli added two more points.

Boffelli was penalized for a deliberate offside, and Zebre missed a chance to score when Pierre Bruno dropped it just before the half-time break.

Immelman was brought in by Currie for Edinburgh’s fifth attempt in the second period. Jaco van der Walt’s conversion attempt was wide.

Zebre felt more frustrated when Alessandro Fusco was unable to make a try due to a forward pass.

After taking a short penalty, Fusco sprinted over to score the long-awaited win for hosts.

After a series carries, Rizzoli took over. They reduced their arrears even further. Geronimo Prisciantelli converted.

Chris Dean granted Currie a pass to reestablish an advantage for Edinburgh. Charlie Savala was also converted.

Zebre was able to claim a bonus point for losing when Fusco selected Trulla as the score. Prisciantelli then added two points with their boot, but these were the last points recorded.

Edinburgh head coach Mike Blair Premier Sports said: “It was a little stop-start. It lost all its intensity. It was a pleasure to be here in Parma to collect five points.
