Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 players can’t upgrade because of a region issue

You may encounter an issue if you are trying to upgrade to Cyberpunk 2077's PS5 version. Reddit and other social media sites are full of complaints about players being unable upgrade due to a region locking issue.

CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the issue is being addressed in a FAQ posting earlier today.

“Disc owners can download the Next Gen Update by entering the CUSA (PlayStation Code) from their disc. This code must match the region of your PlayStation account. Check out the codes HereThe support post stated that this is possible. CD Projekt Red has a support network that can help you with the same problem.

Some European users have had to upgrade because their game disc contained a region code that was different from their actual location. A solution to this problem is to create a new PSN profile that matches your copy of the game. However, we do not recommend it.

CDPR does not have a formal solution at this time. However, the studio is well aware of the issue and it is reasonable to assume that they are currently working on a solution. Similar questions remain about whether Xbox Series X users are also experiencing this issue.

You can also enjoy 30 minutes of Cyberpunk-themed gameplay on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Night City offers a free 5-hour trial, which is available to anyone who is still undecided.
