Joe Ziegler, a Valorant member for eighteen years, was the game director and has now left his position to join a secret Riot Games project.

Ziegler shared Valorant’s announcement saying that “it is with an heart full of gratitude, and a deep excitement, that I come to You today with news.”

“After 8 years of working on VALORANT, building it from the ground up with a team of dedicated and passionate developers who’ve worked tirelessly to serve you all with the respect and admiration that you deserve, I am giving up the mantle of game director of the VALORANT tac-shooter to my good friend, Andy Ho,” Ziegler said.

Ho was the Senior Director, Game Direction from June 2017, and Ziegler promised that this transition would keep Valorant in good hands.

Ziegler stated, “Andy is an individual I am proud to admit has invested many years into VALORANT and whose personal dedication in delivering the highest standards inspires all those who work with him.” He has my complete faith and trust in that he will continue to develop VALORANT each year to make it even more than I imagined.

He gave a hint as to what he was working on next, a new secret project at Riot Games.

“As for me, I’ll be starting something new (*wink, secrets…) in the hopes that we can even scratch the surface of the amazing impact VALORANT has already had so far,” Ziegler said.

Riot Games has been working on Project L, a League of Legends MMO and a Fighting Game called Project F. Ziegler could have said that he was working on a new project but could also be referring to one of the previously announced.

Although he will be leaving Valorant, he will still be there and support the game that he helped to create.

“That said, I’ll not be far from the game and the team and they’ll always have my support,” Ziegler concluded.” We are grateful to everyone who has supported VALORANT. And a special thank you to all those who have supported my work and me. You’ve made my time as your game director a truly joyous and memorable experience. Much <3.”
