PlayStation Plus Games January 2022 Announced

Sony announced that Persona 5 Strikers and Dirt 5 will be the PlayStation Plus games in January 2022.

PlayStation.Blog announced that these three games would be available starting Tuesday, January 4, and ending Tuesday, February 1st. They will also be the first PlayStation Plus games in the new year.

Persona 5 Strikers, a PS4 spin-off, stars Persona 5’s Phantom Thieves. The game picks up only a few month after the original game’s end (sorry Persona 5 Royale fans!). Persona 5 Strikers doesn’t feature turn-based combat. The action is more focused on combo-driven hacking. It is similar to a Musou game but not quite.

We reviewed Persona 5 Strikers and said its “main story” was “every bit the direct sequel of Persona 5 that is it seems, making this summer trip with the Phantom Thieves essential to fans of the original (and possibly quite confusing for anyone who hasn’t played it).

PS4/PS5 Dirt 5 is second on the list. This game takes driving fans all over the world to experience an “amplified Off-road Racing Experience”. Dirt 5, which features 70 routes and 10 locations worldwide, comes with a career mode, four-player split screen, online multiplayer, and a Playgrounds Creator mode.

Our Dirt 5 review stated that it “represents the complete turnaround for the main Dirt series. It shed virtually all simulation in favour of an arcade-inspired racing environment that draws from just about everything you can name, except its direct predecessor.”

PS4 and PS5’s Deep Rock Galactic rounds out January 2022’s PlayStation Plus trio and offers a 1-4 player co-op FPS experience that features “badass space Dwarves, 100% destructible environments, procedurally-generated caves, and endless hordes of alien monsters.”

Deep Rock Galactic is a four-player cooperative game that we reviewed. It’s a winner thanks to its thrilling combat, amazing missions and tons of upgrades.

While you wait for these games to arrive, don’t forget that you have until January 3 to claim December 2021’s PlayStation Plus games – Godfall: Challenger Edition, LEGO DC Super Villains, Mortal Shell, The Persistence, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Standard Edition, and Until You Fall.
