Fantasy hockey rankings: Top 12 fantasy hockey players who exceeded their draft slots

I looked at the all-star lineups back in January and gave them my fantasy spin. Now, we’re going to take a look at the fantasy all-stars on the eve. Not by overall production, but relative production.

These selections are made based on how a player’s fantasy production compares with their expected production/cost to acquire. To compile the list of eligible nominees I simply looked at the difference in a player’s fantasy production and compared it with where ESPN.com had them placed during the offseason. These are not my rankings. They are the ones used in the fantasy game.

It’s not my intention to create an all-star team with equal representation for each division. This is only a list of the top fantasy players, ranked by cost of acquisition.

First team all-stars

Nazem Kadri, C, Colorado AvalancheCurrent projected rank: 23, offseason rank 282)
Jordan Kyrou, C/W, St. Louis Blues (79, 274)
Ryan Hartman, W, Minnesota Wild(73, not ranked).
Moritz Seider, D, Detroit Red Wings(56, not ranked).
Noah Dobson, D, New York Islanders(61, not ranked).
Ilya Sorokin, G, New York Islanders (32, 255)

Kadri would have been considered criminally inadmissible if he was not included in the festivities this weekend. We are grateful for the fan votes. Although he was 186th in fantasy scoring last season he is expected to finish among the 19 skaters that reach 200 fantasy points. … Although there were many ways that the Blues depth chart could have gone, things turned out just right for Kyrou to emerge at the end of this season. Hartman was the perfect winger. Kirill KaprizovIt has paid off tremendously. Dobson, Seider and Dobson were low-profile players before the season. However, they are now the offensive leaders for their team’s blue line. Because of a combination injury and inconsistent play, Sorokin has been playing more than anyone could have hoped. Semyon Varlamov.

Second team all stars

Matt Duchene, C, Nashville Predators (66, 294)
Timo Meier, W, San Jose Sharks (19, 149)
Vladimir Tarasenko, W. St. Louis Blues (47) (162)
Evan Bouchard, D, Edmonton Oilers(87, unranked)
Shayne Gostisbehere, D, Arizona Coyotes (102, 262)
Sergei Bobrovsky, G, Florida Panthers (16, 223)

It is possible to wonder if Duchene was awakened by the expansion draft. Ryan Johansen. … Meier, Tarasenko and other fantasy drafts had them on their teams. But what a pleasant surprise it was to see them get second- and fifth round value. … Bouchard was not expected to be this season. Tyson Barrie Darnell NurseMostly healthy. Gostisbehere is a pleasant surprise. However, his value comes at a high price: Jakob Chychruns total and complete destruction. … After last season’s woes and the looming doom, Bobrovsky was perfectly fair to be written off. Spencer Knight. Although it was unfair in hindsight, it was right at the time. One lesson learned is to never exclude a Vezina winner from the list, at least not until they reach 35.

Forwards

Max Pacioretty, W, Vegas Golden Knights (Up 81 places to No. 37): The Knights have returned to full health. Alec MartinezNext is likely Jack Eichel after him. On a per-minute basis Pacioretty has been a top asset this season. That could only increase with Eichel in it. Although he isn’t ranked here, it’s worth noting. Evgenii Dadonov. Dadonov is likely to become the fourth forward when Eichel is well. Mark StoneEichel, Pacioretty and.

Josh Norris, C, Ottawa Senators (18 spots down to No. 71: This is where the real damage to the ranking comes from. Drake Batherson being out until April. We’ll see how the Sens handle this. Tim Stutzlemay be able to adequately fill in the top-line with Norris Brady TkachukYes, but it is at best questionable.

Evander KaneEdmonton Oilers, W (Up 76 places to No. 93 Connor McDavid at even strength? Check. McDavid is the top power-play player. Leon Draisaitl? Check. That’s it. This was all we needed to know before Kane could be considered a top fantasy player. While we’ll rank him higher in the future, for now, it seems like it was worthwhile to stash him even if it was at the beginning of the season.

On the move: Defensemen

Rasmus Andersson, D, Calgary Flames (up 21 places to No. 139: While it took Andersson a while to adjust and settle in, he has been looking like a true power-play quarterback. As a result, he’s scoring more and grabbing more points. Although it’s not league-leading territory, it is possible to have the same power-play points. Drew Doughty, John Carlson Alex PietrangeloYou are doing something right.

Goaltenders on the move

Ville HussoG, St. Louis Blues (Up 48 spots to No. 163: The gap between Husso & Jordan BinningtonThe gap between the two is only growing. We are at the brink of Binnington’s worst start yet, and that will be enough to make him a backup player for the near future. I think that if you have to drop Binnington to make way for Husso, it is a reasonable decision.

Linus Ullmark, G, Boston Bruins (up 32 spots to No. 213): Tuukka Rack’s results after his return to the team can be described as unpredictable at best. Two goals against five goals against, five against, two against, five against, and five against. Rask has been diagnosed with a lower body injury. Although Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman aren’t a big deal in the last few games, they could be the Bruins’ biggest stars for a while. Ullmark is worthy of a spot on the roster.

Rankings are updated

Ondrej Kase(Top-six overrides, but still a factor) Blake Coleman, Jakub Vrana (almost healthy), Cole Perfetti (Nikolaj EhlersIt may not be available for a while. Paul Stastny.
