Houston Texans to host Uvalde High school football team for the season opener

The Houston Texans They have invited Uvalde High School football to be their guests in the team's season opening against the Indianapolis Colts September 11 at NRG Stadium

Together with H-E-B the supermarket chain, the Texans are providing transportation for Uvalde's team to the stadium, as well as accommodations during the game.

Members of the Texans visited Uvalde, where they spent time with the football players as the team prepared for its home opener Friday night. The Texans contingent included CEO Cal McNair and vice president Hannah McNair. Lovie Smith was the head coach. Linebackers were also present. Christian Kirksey Kamu Grugier-HillRoland Ramirez, the director of sports medicine, was also present. Both were students at Robb Elementary School.

The group spent the two-day visit with Uvalde. They also provided new Nike uniforms for the football team.

The Texans have previously stated that they will wear decals identifying themselves as “Uvalde Strong” on their helmets when facing the Colts.

On May 24, 19 children and two teachers from Robb Elementary School were shot to death in the worst school shooting in Texas history. The Robb School Memorial Fund was funded by $400,000 from the Texans and $200,000.0 from the Texans in the days that followed the shooting.
