Dragons are in negotiations to sign Clermont-Auvergne fly-half JJ Hansrahan for next season.
The 29 year-old moved to France only last summer after moving from Munster.
The highly respected Irishman is being sought by Wales international Sam Davies to take the Dragons number 10 shirt.
Hanrahan was a Clermont player this season, competing against Camille Lopez of France for a starting place.
Dragons announced Tuesday that they would be launching a new website. five young players had signed contract extensionsBut Dean Ryan, director of rugby, is eager to increase the experience of his team.
Ryan stated, “Let’s not be misled. The Dragons are always looking for strength but it’s strengthening around the principles.”
“We’ve always had challenges in terms of resource and this year it is the same. It is still a matter of debate as to what these resources will be, which is another challenge in an already difficult area.
The Gwent region was also linked to Max Clark from Bath and Sean Lonsdale from Exeter. Both are Welsh-qualified as well as Bradley Roberts, an Ulster hooker, who was capped in Wales this autumn.
Ryan said, “We are working hard for this squad to continue building it and keep improving its support for our youngsters.”
“This gives us something that is sometimes a unique selling proposition. Because we are so full of opportunities, we have been able show that anyone can come to us and impress the national coaches. We talk about this regularly.
