“As an athlete, there’s a responsibility to invest fully in your sport. You are fully invested into your body, in your work, and in your team. Redick stated Tuesday that this is your responsibility, and we haven’t seen it from Zion.”
Redick, Williamson and Williamson were teammates in the Pelicans’ last two seasons. Redick announced his retirement before joining ESPN as an NBA analyst.
Redick stated that he raised concerns with Williamson during his visit to New Orleans.
Redick said, “This was something I discussed with Zion in front the team.” This is his rookie year.

Williamson’s potential problems as a teammate were made public during the All-Star celebrations this weekend. CJ McCollumWilliamson stated that he had not spoken to him since he was transferred to New Orleans. Portlandat the trade deadline
“I have not had any conversations with him directly. McCollum indicated Saturday night that McCollum had spoken with people close to him, and that they look forward to meeting up with him. “I know just as much about you as you do now, but it’s something I want to investigate.”
Redick stated that Williamson’s silence towards McCollum was part of a “pattern” of behavior.

Williamson has been out of action this season because he had a right foot fracture that required surgery. Williamson’s return from injury has been delayed numerous times. There was initially optimism that Williamson would return for the start of the season. Williamson is currently undergoing his rehabilitation away team. Sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski Williamson is currently rehabbing in Portland with the blessing of Pelicans.
Williamson has been a force in the team’s defense when he is healthy. He played in 61 games for the team last season, scoring 27.0 points and grabbing 7.2 rebounds.
“Yes, he’s been incredible when he was on the court — 100%. He is amazing to watch. Redick stated that there is no one who can do what he does on the basketball court. However, as a teammate, there is a pattern, and as an individual fully invested in New Orleans, there is a pattern. This is alarming.
