The NFL has taken the Miami Dolphins After an investigation into possible violations of league policies relating to integrity of the sport, Stephen Ross, the owner of the draft, was suspended and the two draft picks were taken, along with their 2023 first round selection.
In addition to losing their first-round pick in the first round, the Dolphins will also lose their third-round selection of 2024.
Ross is currently suspended from Oct. 17 through Oct. 17. He isn’t allowed to be at the Dolphins facility or represent the Dolphins at any team event. He can’t also attend any league meeting until the 2023 Annual Meeting.
Bruce Beal, vice chairman/limited partner of Dolphins, was sanctioned $500,000 and banned from attending any league meeting during the 2022 season.
Brian Flores, former Dolphins coach, claimed that Ross offered him $100,000 to win 2019 games and that he manipulated individuals who were under contract.Tom Brady Sean Payton
The NFL stated that it discovered that the Dolphins had “impermissible communication” with Brady in 2019-20, when Brady was still under contract with the NFL New England Patriots He was also under contract with The in 2021. Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
According to the NFL, the conversations with Brady in 2019-20 were led by Beal. The 2021 conversations focused on Brady becoming a limited partner in Dolphins and making him an executive. However, the NFL said that it did not find any evidence that the Dolphins deliberately lost 2022 games. Ross’ comments about offering money to win a game was not meant or taken seriously by Ross or anyone else at club.
Goodell stated, “Every club is expected make a good faith effort in winning every game.” Goodell stated that professional football’s integrity and the public’s confidence in it require nothing less. A senior executive or owner must know the consequences of his or her comments and understand that they may be taken seriously. Even though they were not meant to be taken seriously, comments that suggest draft position is more important then winning may be misunderstood. They can pose a risk to the integrity and game’s integrity. His comments did not impact Coach Flores’ resolve to win, and the Dolphins participated in every game.
