NASHVILLE (Tenn.) — More than 45 minutes had passed between the Tennessee TitansA humiliating 21-20 loss to The New York Giants The season opener. The majority of Titans players were already dressed and had gotten ready at their lockers.

While reporters looked around the room looking for players to talk with, defensive end Denico Autry With a look so wide that it could have been seen through a wall, he sat at his locker wearing his game-day pants with cleats.

Autry’s expression of dismay made it obvious that he was suffering from the loss.

Autry added, “I take everything to heart, man.” All of this is something I take seriously.”

Autry won the game without a sack, and with only one quarterback hit. He quickly recovered and he had three straight games of sacks. This included a record-breaking two against his old team. Indianapolis Colts.

Autry’s greatest memory is his Colts free agency in 2020. Autry had 7.5sacks, and was combined with DeForest Buckner To form a formidable duo at the front of his final season with Colts.

Autry had 20 sacks in three seasons with Indianapolis. However, the Colts did not retain him, despite having enough cap space.

Autry stated, “It made me feel inadequate.” It put a chip in my shoulder.

Autry realized that Indianapolis would not consider bringing him back so he turned his attention to another AFC South team to get two chances to show the Colts what a mistake it was for him to be let go.

Jon Robinson, Titans general manger, was quick to sign Autry to a $21.5 million three-year contract. Tennessee was also a familiar place since Autry had been a defensive line coach. Terrell Williams Autry was coached by Autry with the Oakland Raiders in 2014.

“He’s one the guys where relationships are so crucial. Williams stated that Williams is more interested in a relationship than a friendship.

Autry responded by surpassing his career record of nine sacks in 2021. With Autry and the Titans’ front four, they were a threat to all opposing teams. Jeffery Simmons And Harold Landry IIIBoth of them had successful career seasons. The Titans went from 19 to 43 sacks as a team in 2020, and they had 43 sacks by 2021. Simmons had a career high of 8.5 sacks, and 10.5 run stuffs.

Simmons stated, “I appreciate the Colts letting him walk because that was a great pickup.” “Me and Denico push each other. He wins the 1-on-1 and I know that I can trust him. It makes it difficult for teams to try to double-team me.

Shane Bowen, Titans defensive coordinator, has used Autry all over the line, from the middle to rush the passer, to the outside of the tackle.

This versatility has been crucial to the Titans’ success this season. Landry is currently out of action due to an ACL tear. Autry has done a lot of his work from the outside, which makes up for Landry’s loss. Last season, the Titans had 12 sacks.

When the Titans were playing outside linebacker, they also had depth problems. Bud Dupree (Hips injury) Ola Adeniyi (neck injury) they were unable to sign a veteran defensive lineman Mario Edwards Jr.Autry’s former Raiders teammate. Edwards joked about how Autry and he used to be known as the “Bash Brothers”, because of their destructive tandem play.

Edwards stated that they developed a chemistry together. I can tell when he gives a certain look to me that he is about to do something and vice versa.

Ryan Crow, coach of outside linebackers, said that you can see the difference in their conversations.

Autry played his best game of the season in Week 4, a win over the Colts 24-17, with Edwards next to him.

Edwards was able to assist Autry in a stunt that saw him bagging two of the season’s most important sacks. Edwards stood outside Autry, attacked the left tackle on the outside shoulder, and then looped back inside.

This put Autry off balance, and he ran right through Autry en route to sacking Colts quarterback Matt Ryan, Stopping a fourth-quarter drive that could have tied it in the final quarter.

Autry stated after the game, “It’s always nice to come back here.

Autry will be able to play against the Colts again when they come to Nissan Stadium in Week 7. (Sunday at 1 p.m. ET).
