Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors will no longer require proof of vaccination for fans starting March 1.

TORONTO — Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment said Friday it will discontinue the proof of vaccination requirement for fans entering its venues, beginning March 1.

The NHL’s are under the control of MLSE Toronto Maple Leafs, NBA’s Toronto RaptorsMajor League Soccer’s Toronto FC (MLS) and the Canadian Football League’s Toronto Argonauts (CFL)

This move comes after the Ontario government announced this week that it would slightly accelerate plans for lowering attendance limits at indoor sporting events.

Initially, the allowed capacity was going up to 50% on Monday and 100% by March 14. On Monday, the Ontario government announced that 50% of the seating capacity in large sporting and live-music venues would be permitted starting on Thursday. This will increase to full capacity by March 1.

MLSE stated in a statement that there will be no exceptions to the league rules that require proof, such as for personnel or fans living near playing surfaces. Masking requirements will still be in place throughout the province and at MLSE’s venues.

MLSE is the owner and operator of Scotiabank Arena and BMO Field, Coca-Cola Coliseum and Ford Performance Centres, BMO Training Grounds, and OVO Athletic Centre.
