San Francisco 49ers are in wait-and see mode after Trent Williams’ injury. Deebo Samuel is expected to continue practice

SANTA CLARA CA — As the San Francisco 49ersGreen Bay left Green Bay on Saturday night. However, injuries questions linger over two of their most important players.

Kyle Shanahan, coach of the Niners, gave updates on Monday regarding left tackle Trent WilliamsReceiver Deebo SamuelAs the team prepares for Sunday’s NFC Championship Game, against the Los Angeles Rams.

Williams is currently being treated for a right ankle injury and will continue to be monitored throughout the week. His game status remains unclear. Samuel is feeling fine after applying a helmet to his right leg on the run that led to the game-winning field goal. Shanahan stated that Samuel will be available to practice this week.

Williams sustained a right ankle injury during San Francisco’s 13-10 victory against the Packers. Although he didn’t leave the game, Williams was seen walking on crutches to the Lambeau Field X-ray area after the victory.

Williams’ ankle was not fractured, but further tests revealed some issues in Williams’ ankle that make it difficult to determine the severity. Similar to what happened last week with the Niners’ defensive end, Jordan WillisThis was a case in which an initial diagnosis indicated a possible high ankle strain. However, after things settled, the newer ankle strain wasn’t as severe.

Shanahan spoke out about Williams’ ankle injury. “If it was a high,” Shanahan said. [sprain]If so, I would rule him out. But it has many other components. … Now, it’s time to wait. Before you can declare what it might be, you need to watch how it heals and responds throughout the week. This is all I can tell you. That’s what we will be waiting to see.

Shanahan stated that the Niners would have to manage Williams throughout the week and determine his status for the game. After being listed as doubtful on the injury report, Willis was allowed to play against Packers. He blocked the punt which provided the game-tying point.

Williams injured his elbow during the Rams’ last meeting. Colton McKivitzWilliams was replaced in Week 18.

The injury front is not over, with Niners running back Jeff Wilson Jr.A low ankle sprain occurred during Saturday’s kickoff. However, he is still eligible to play.

Shanahan said cornerback Ambry ThomasThe pregame inactive Saturday by a bone fracture on his knee meant that he was not able to play. He should also be able this week to resume practice.

“We hoped he would be close to us.” [to playing]But by the time he reached there, we could see that there was no point in working with him,” Shanahan stated. It didn’t turn out to be as close as we had hoped. We know that he is doing much better today than Sunday. He has a better chance this week to play, so I believe he will be able to. I hope he will be available for practice on Wednesday.
