Square Enix has announced Valkyrie Elysium, an action RPG called Valkyrie Elysium. This new entry in the Valkyrie Series that began in 1999 with Valkyrie Profile, was revealed at Sony’s State of Play. It will launch sometime between 2022 and PS5 on PS4
The gameplay trailer for Valkyrie Elysium showed exploration and combat in a fantasy setting. There were also teases of its story. According to the PlayStation Blog, “The Valkyrie Series depicts the end for humanity and their encounters in heaven through a unique world inspired from Norse mythology.”
Valkyrie Elysium won’t connect to other Valkyrie games as the blog post describes it as “a brand new standalone adventure.” The Valkyrie Anatomia, the last entry in this series, was a mobile title called Valkyrie Anatomia. The Origin was first released in Japan in 2016. It then went West in 2019.
Some other details have been shared include that Valkyrie Elysium will return the series’ recruitable warriors Einherjar and Motoi Sakuraba to compose the soundtrack. It has been confirmed that it will run at 4K resolution and 60fps on PlayStation 5
Many fans may be familiar with the name Valkyrie Elysium. Square Enix filed the trademark in Japan last October, and then did the same in other areas towards the end February.
